The series of 7 x 11 collages using colored tissue paper and dressmaker patterns on cotton rag paper were created after spending time looking at the work of Josef + Anni Albers.
The series of larger collages done on paper and wood were created after spending a summer in a new city referring to Google Map everyday to get around. Sidewalks, maps, patterns, grids: systems of information are compelling not for their directional, navigational or informative properties, but for the simple beauty of their line quality. When removed from their original context, they are just drawings.
