Using thread and ribbon as line, these pieces, though geometrically composed and systematic, are resolutely handmade and derive from an impulse to draw. The use of stitched line with minimal color are intentionally positioned for intimate, careful consideration. The irregular lines within the square format and the attention focused on the physicality of the paper all open up the precision of my actions to contradictions. These small, minutely gestural denials of the system and grid animate the work.
